COMPARED TO OTHER PARTS of the country, Marin is doing pretty well. Even in the midst of these tough economic times, the county remains one of the wealthiest in America with an unemployment rate that is the lowest in the state.

And yet, just like everywhere else, there are people in Marin who are hurting.

“Marin is indeed privileged, but people here still go through hard times,” says Jack Kornfield, founder of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre.
